Hey there! Thanks for stopping by.
Destrie Monis here and here's a little about me:
I was born and raised in Hawaii, on the island of Kauai.
(Yes, this is really me. It's a VERY old picture)
My parents immigrated from the Philippines to Hawaii, with the hopes of providing their children with a better life in America.
I did pretty well in high school, straight A student for the most part. Played the trumpet in the school band, picked up the guitar along the way, ran cross country, and was a part of numerous school clubs.
Even at a young age, I knew deep down that I didn't want to spend all of my life in Hawaii. I knew that there was more out there to see and experience. So when college came around, I decided to move to the New York so I could fulfill one of my dreams, to go Snowboarding.
You can call me a modern day Johnny Tsunami.
I majored in Mechanical Engineering and during my Junior year, I had a deep feeling that Engineering wasn't the right fit for me, but I just didn't know what else I could do.
After reading books like Rich Dad, Poor Dad and Think and Grow Rich during an Engineering Internship working for the Coast Guard, I knew that Engineering wasn't the career path I wanted to take. I couldn't see myself working for someone else for the next 40 years of my life.
Introduction to the Network Marketing Industry
I was introduced to the Network Marketing industry in 2008 and was captivated by everything about the industry; the model, the personal development side of the business, the support from your team members, and of course the potential to create residual income and leverage your time and resources.
I struggled to finish my engineering degree knowing there was something better out there that fit my personality better. I would spend as much time as I could learning about Network Marketing and business, while still studying for exams and working on my Senior Project. I felt like I had a double major in Network Marketing, without the degree.
I had little success selling the products and was only able to recruit a handful of people. Like I knew there had to be a better way to build this business.
And then I looked Online.
I found a book called Magnetic Sponsoring that taught a different way of building a Network Marketing business. Instead of chasing after people to join your business or buy your products, you would provide people with Value to Attract them into joining you.
Attraction isn't a choice and I quickly learned that the best way to attract others to join your business is to provide Value to them, not with the intent to make money, but to genuinely help make their lives better with your business or product.
After learning this, I did everything I could to increase my value to others by learning more about everything there was to do with business, mindset, leadership, online marketing, and copywriting.
I picked up every book and course I could afford on these topics, I even spent my college tuition refund check on a Pay Per Click Marketing Course to learn how to use Google Adwords, (Shhh….Don't tell my mom).
I eventually graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree, but wasn't able to make Network Marketing a full time income like my upline.
This lead me to down the Corporate America route, but I still had a deep burning desire to make it in Network Marketing.
Corporate America Life
Since I knew Engineering wasn't the right fit for me, after college I ventured into the world of Sales. My first job after graduating was selling Life Insurance. That only lasted a few months but the experience set me up for a career path I never even heard about, Sales Engineering.
I was happier not doing strictly Engineering because it wasn't for me, but after working with a few Corporate companies, I saw how unhappy the older employees were when they were approaching retirement age and I silently made a promise to myself that I would do everything I could to make Network Marketing work for me.
Fast Forward to Today
I've taken the sales and marketing skills I've learned over the years and put them to work.
I've learned how to use the concept of Attraction Marketing and Online Marketing strategies to generate my own leads to grow my business and help others to do the same.
Live. Learn. Laugh. Love. Life
Aside from mentoring and marketing, I have a number of different hobbies.
I love skimboarding, snowboarding, taking photographs, dancing – breakdancing, salsa, merengue, bachata, martial arts, strength training, playing the guitar and doing just about anything as a creative outlet. I love to travel every chance I get and enjoy learning about other cultures and will try anything new.
